David grew up as one of ten children on a small farm in Suwanee, Georgia, and later relocated with his family to Lake Lanier. He attended Georgia Gwinnett College after serving in the military. David Clark and his wife, Courtney, have a daughter named Madison, and they are involved in their church, living in Sugar Hill, Georgia.

David is a small business owner and a combat veteran who served in the infantry, deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

David Clark is a State Representative for District 100, since 2022. Previously, he was state representative for district 98 from 2015 to 2022. During his tenure, he has chaired the Welfare Fraud Study Committee and was Chairman of the Interstate Cooperation Committee, although he was removed from this chairmanship. He has previously challenged the Georgia House speaker for leadership in the chamber and introduced a resolution calling for the speaker's resignation.
