Opposes a bill Georgia Republicans passed, SB 233, which provides school vouchers for private schools. He believes "this bill is not helpful to poor students and only helps wealthy students who are already going to private schools."

Opposes the bill SB 379 which allows schools to replace or supplement guidance counselors with chaplains, which McClain argues "These chaplains are not required to have any training or certifications as school counselors."
