Eddie Lumsden is a lifelong resident of Floyd County. He holds degrees from Floyd College and Berry College in communications and public relations.  He is married to Teresa Pearson, his childhood sweetheart. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. Eddie is actively involved in his community, serving as a deacon and worship leader at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church.

Eddie is a retired state trooper and small business owner. He served in the U.S. Air Force/Air Guard for six years before a 27-year career with the Georgia State Patrol, retiring as a master trooper in 1999. Alongside his wife Teresa, he established Teresa Lumsden Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1988, which markets State Farm insurance and financial services throughout Georgia.

Eddie Lumsden was elected to state office in November 2012, representing House District 12, which covers Chattooga County and part of Floyd County. Before his state tenure, he served two terms on the Floyd County Commission, including a stint as chairman. He chairs the House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee and holds positions on various other committees.
