Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Lee University. He is a lifelong resident of Bartow County, and a graduate of Cartersville High School. Matthew is married with three children. The family attends Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Matthew currently serves as the director of business development for NFP. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bartow County, and the Boys and Girls Clubs Georgia Alliance. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Association Executives, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Economic Developers Association. Matthew previously interned for the House Higher Education and Education committees.
