John is married to his wife, and they have four children and three grandchildren. He is a South Georgia native who lives in Brooks County on a third-generation family farm. 

John is the President of Fellowship Senior Living, Inc., overseeing senior housing and care communities in Georgia and Florida. He began his full-time career in senior living in 1997. John has served as President of the Assisted Living Association of Georgia and is a member of the Georgia Senior Living Association board. He is also a Registered Nurse.

John Lahood was first elected State House Representative for District 175 in 2018.
