Lucy is a resident of metro Atlanta. She graduated with a bachelor's in political science from Virginia State University in 1982. She goes to Eagle’s Nest Church.

Lucy McBath founded the Champion in the Making Legacy Foundation, which aims to provide educational assistance to high school graduates. She previously worked as a Delta flight attendant for thirty years.

Lucy McBath is a member of the U.S. House, representing Georgia's 7th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2023 and is serving her first term.
