Joey attended Hart County High School. He received an Associate of Arts in Pre-Pharmacy and Business Administration from Emmanuel College as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Anderson College. Joey is a husband and father.

Joey is the president and chief executive officer of Modern Tire and All Terrain Inc. He is also the vice president of operations for Great Walton Railroad Co. Inc.
