Roger lives in Rabun County with his wife, Laura. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Ohio State University and a master's degree from the United States Army War College.

Roger works at Poss Realty. He created the Rabun County Spotlight, a series of videos featuring organizations from the county. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
