Mark is a husband, father, and grandfather. He attends Moultrie Road Church of Christ.

Before retiring, Mark owned NeSmith Nursery in Thomasville, Georgia.

Mark A. NeSmith is currently Thomas County Commissioner for District 4. He was first elected in a special election in 2011 and has served three full terms. In 2022, Mark was chosen to be chairman of the commission.
