Morris attended LaGrange High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Georgia. He is married and has two children as well as two grandchildren. He attends First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.

Morris runs a family timber and cattle business, Jones Bros. Farming Inc.
