Said, "Bulloch, Effingham and Burke Counties each proactively and aggressively enforce the drug laws currently on their books. That pretty much leaves Screven County as a safe haven for drug offenders... We must face the fact that growth is occurring all around us... My main concern will be keeping a watchful eye out for that bad element whom no one wants encroaching on their peaceful way of life."

Bruce Rowell is a lifelong resident of Screven County, where his family has lived and worked for four generations. His parents, Harold and Harriet Rowell, owned and operated Rowell Service Station in Sylvania. Bruce is married to Teerah Forehand Rowell, and together they have two sons, Justin and Bradley, who have attended school in Screven County.

Bruce E Rowell began his law enforcement career as a jailor for the Screven County Sheriff’s Office and then became a deputy after attending the Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Program in Augusta, Georgia. He completed two levels of S.W.A.T. training while working for the Sheriff’s Office. Later, he joined the Georgia State Patrol, starting as a Radio Operator and then attending the 75th Trooper School in Forsyth, Georgia. His colleague, Ben, also has a background with the Georgia State Patrol, having attended the 71st Trooper School and serving in various capacities including supervisory roles, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

They are tasked with operating the county jails, keeping courtrooms secure during trials, and keeping the public safe through proper law enforcement.
