Tisa has a bachelor's degree in communications from Georgia State University, a master's degree in Business Administration from Troy University, and a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University. She She has been a member of several organizations including Rotary Club of Conyers, Rockdale Young Professional Leaders, Rockdale NAACP, Rockdale County Public Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Council, Rockdale County Public Schools Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, NCNW, the Rockdale County Democratic Party, Top Ladies of Distinction, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is currently married.

Tisa worked previously as a Communication Writer in the Office of the CEO of DeKalb County, and as Editor of the Rockdale News. She also worked as a reporter for On Common Ground News, and the Regional Sales Coordinator for Wells Real Estate Funds

Tisa Washington is the current Tax Commissioner in Rockdale County, Georgia. She was elected to this position in 2016. She has served terms 2 in this role. She previously served as the Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner.
