The Augusta Press, Brantley challenges Williams to become next Augusta district attorney

Amber Brantley earned her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University, her Master's degree in Administrative Justice and Society from the University of Phoenix, and her Law degree from the Florida Coastal School of Law. She lives with her husband and two children in Hephzibah, Georgia.

Amber Brantley currently works as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for the Columbia Judicial Circuit. She has previously worked as an Assistant Solicitor General, Trial Team Leader, and Domestic Violence Prosecutor for the Domestic Violence Accountability Court in Augusta- Richmond County, and an Assistant District Attorney for the Southern Judicial Circuit. She is the first African-American assistant district attorney in the Columbia County Judicial Circuit.

- A District Attorney is the person who represents the government in the prosecution of all felony criminal cases and the misdemeanors connected to felonies. 
- They review police arrest reports, build cases against arrested individuals, and ultimately are responsible for prosecuting and making the case against these individuals. 
- They also have the discretion of whether or not to bring charges against arrested people, whether or not to seek jail time, or whether or not to send individuals to pre-trial diversion programs.
