Hai was born in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam, and after fleeing the country in 1975, he arrived in Seattle, Washington. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Washington in March 1980.
Professional background
Hai began his career at General Electric in the Nuclear Energy Division. Hai later held positions at Harris Corporation, John Fluke, Advanced Technology Labs, and Rocket Research. In 2011, he became a Senior Program Manager at International Rectifier, and in 2015, he was a Senior Management team member at Sparton Corporation's Georgia division. Hai founded CTH Consulting Services in 2018, but retired in 2021 to focus on politics.
