Mary received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Earlham College masters degree in Social Work from The University of Georgia. She resides in Marietta with her two sons and two grandchildren. She attends First United Methodist Church of Marietta.

Mary serves as a Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships with GCAPP and a self-employed legislative and public policy consultant.
