Jimmie grew up in West Georgia. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Georgia Southwestern College and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He and his wife have four children. He is a member of First Baptist Church, Leesburg. 

Jimmie was previously a partner at the Ralph Scoccimaro Law Group. He served as an Infantry Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in the Army. 

Jimmie Brown is currently the Superior Court Judge in Southwestern Judicial Circuit. He was elected in 2016 and is serving his second term.

- Georgia Superior Court Judges hear a wide range of criminal cases from petty theft and public drunkenness to murder. Some cases in front of the Georgia Superior Court involve the death penalty.

- Superior Court Judges are elected by judicial circuit. Each county surrounding Atlanta has its own judicial circuit, while rural judicial districts typically consist of multiple counties.
- Superior Court Judges are elected to four year terms. Elections are nonpartisan. The Governor can appoint Superior Court Judges when vacancies arise.
