Rich was raised by a single mother and worked his way through college. He is a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine, where he served as student body president, and he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine through Emory University at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. He also received an MBA from National University in California. McCormick has lived in Cobb County for 12 years and serves as a youth minister at Gwinnett Church in Sugar Hill.

Professional background

Rich is an emergency medicine physician who has worked in the Northside Hospital System. He is a former Marine helicopter pilot and served as a Marine Officer Instructor at Georgia Tech and Morehouse College. In the Navy, he achieved the rank of Commander and was the Department Head for the Emergency Medicine Department in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
