Clyde graduated from Warner Robins High School and Fort Valley State University. He resides in Houston County with his wife, two children, and one grandchild. He is a lifetime member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a 35-year member of the Omega Gamma Gamma chapter in Warner Robins, Georgia. He attends First Baptist Church Garmon Street.

Clyde worked as a middle school teacher and coach for youth sports.
