Pearson attended Randolph Macon College, and hold's a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana. He is currently a Board Member of the MontPIRG Leadership Fund, and served as a Former Board Member and Chair for the Montana Nonprofit Association. 

Person currently works as a private consultant for his own consulting business. previously served as the Senior Vice President for M+R Strategic Service. He also worked as an Executive Director for nonprofit advocacy organizations, including the Clark Fork Coalition, Common Cause/Montana organization, and the California and Montana Public Interest Research Group's (PIRG).
