Michele is from New Bern, North Carolina and graduated New Bern Senior High. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from North Carolina Central University as well as an associate degree in biblical studies, a bachelor’s degree in theology, and a master’s degree in biblical counseling.

Michele is retired. She previously worked as probation parole officer with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Community Corrections and Juvenile Justice for 30 years.
