Antoinetta is a native of Person County, having grown up in Allensville and spent time in the Timberlake and Rougemont communities. She graduated from Person Senior High School, earned her bachelor's degree in biology and criminal justice from North Carolina Central University, and her master's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Antoinetta is a member of Greater Clegg's Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church in Timberlake. She is married to Maurice, with whom she has 6 children and 4 grandchildren.

Antoinetta is a trainer and program consultant with the NC Department of Health and Human Services Division of Social Services, where she trains child welfare social workers across North Carolina.
