Brandi was raised in Louisburg, N.C. She attended Vance Granville Community College and the Basic Register of Deeds School at the University of North Carolina’s School of Government and became certified by the NC Association of Registers of Deeds. She and her husband Davis live in Louisberg. She has one son and is a stepmother to Davis' daughter.

Brandi has worked in the Franklin County Register of Deeds Office for nearly 23 years. Previously, she worked at Batton & Guin, Attorneys.

Brandi Smith Brinson is currently serving as the Register of Deeds for Franklin County. She was first appointed to the position in 2011 and is serving her fourth term. She is the co-chair of the N.C. Association of Registers of Deeds Education Committee.
