Matthew is a lifelong resident of Harnett County. He graduated from Triton High School and earned his bachelor's in business administration from Campbell University. Matthew and his wife Amy have two children.

Matthew previously worked as Assistant Register of Deeds in Harnett County for 10 years.

Matthew S. Willis is currently Register of Deeds for Harnett County. He was elected in 2020 and is serving his first term.

- The Register of Deeds Office issues marriage licenses and supplies copies of birth and death certificates. They also may assist in administering notary public oaths.
