Lisa is from Charlotte. She holds a degree in English Literature and psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a degree in English and psychology from North Carolina State University, and a master's degree in theological studies from Liberty University. She has volunteered with Festival in Park, Charlotte Folk Society Stage, giving out food to homeless people downtown, the Foxhole Landfill Citizens Committee, and the Charlotte Community Relations Committee. She is also a violinist at Calvary Church in Charlotte.

Lisa works as a director for a non-profit organization, Paul's Hope Food Bank, and as a newspaper writer. She previously worked as a writing tutor at Central Piedmont Community College. She and her husband owned a small farm for over 20 years raising horses and animals, and she previously worked on larger farms.

Lisa Carol Rudisill ran for Mecklenburg County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor in 2016, but she did not win. She also previously ran for County Commissioner, but she did not win.
