Erie County Ohio, JUDGE ROBERT C. DELAMATRE

Robert is from Erie County, Ohio and graduated from Huron High School. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio Northern University and a law degree from the University of Toledo.

Robert has previously worked in private practice law, as the assistant law director for the City of Sandusky, a magistrate judge in the Erie County Municipal Court, and an assistant prosecutor for Erie and Ottawa Counties.

Robert C. Delamatre is currently serving as the Erie County Common Pleas Judge. He was first elected in 2000 and is serving his 4th term. 

As a county common pleas judge, he reviews the decisions of certain state administrative agencies, issues marriage licenses, administers divorce, spousal support, parental custody, adoption, and eminent domain  proceedings, and oversees criminal felony cases, civil suits with alleged damages over $15,000, and cases involving individuals under 18 who are abused, neglected, or parentless.

In private practice law, he researched, drafted, and filed legal documents, and provided defense and counsel to clients.

As the assistant law director for the City of Sandusky, he provided legal counsel to the city and its officials, prepared legal opinions and answered complaints for the law department, conducted interviews, reviewed records, and developed case strategy for the law department’s prosecutions.

As a magistrate judge in the Erie County Municipal Court, he held preliminary hearings in minor criminal cases, oversaw civil suits and the recovery of personal property, and issued search and arrest warrants.

As an assistant prosecutor for Erie and Ottawa Counties, he reviewed the charges individuals were arrested for, determined which cases and charges would be tried in court, drafted and filed documents and warrants, prosecuted criminal charges on behalf of the government, and provided sentencing recommendations for convicted felons.
