Gina was born and raised in Niles, Ohio. She graduated from Niles McKinley High School and earned her bachelor's degree in applied science from Youngstown State University, as well as her law degree from the Cleveland Marshall School of Law.

Gina previously worked as a chief assistant prosecutor and public information officer for the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office. She also provided litigation counsel for Mahoning County and began her legal career as an attorney with Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, Ltd.

Gina DeGenova is the prosecutor for Mahoning County. She was appointed in 2022 and is serving her first term. 

As chief assistant prosecutor and public information officer, supervised attorneys and administrative staff in both criminal and civil divisions, while maintaining a personal docket of felony prosecutions and civil litigation.
