David previously worked as an educational administrator. He also worked as an athletic director, principal, English teacher, and football and baseball coach. He served in the US Military.

Sam has an associate's degree in criminal justice from Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

Sam is an owner-operator of Hitchcock Sound Company. He previously worked at the Philadelphia Police Department. He was a certified instructor with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. 

Sam Hitchcock previously ran for county recorder in 2018, but withdrew. He was a councilman-at-large for 4 years before serving 8 years as council president for the New Philadelphia City Council.
