Preston is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science and psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. 

Preston founded and runs Lawrence Park and Go, a small convenience store. Mike was raised in Butler, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Butler High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. Mike and his wife Vicki, have 4 children.

Mike owns Mike Kelly Automotive Group. He previously worked at the family business, Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac, Inc.
