Molly is from Houston, Texas. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas and a nursing degree and a master's degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University. 

Molly previously worked as an emergency room nurse. She also worked as an intern for Maryland Citizens Health Initiative and Horizon Foundation of Howard County, Maryland.

Molly Cook currently serves as a state senator in State Senate District 15. She was elected in 2024 and is serving her 1st term. She previously ran for state senator in State Senate District 15 in 2022 but did not win.
