Andrew Lowe sworn in to Senoia council | News | times-herald.com

Lowe was born in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. His mother was a teacher and his father was a police officer. While in college, Lowe played rugby and eventually got a contract with the Irish Rugby Football Union at 19 years old. When his contract expired three years later, Lowe came to the United States to continue his rugby career in Las Vegas. After his work visa expired, Lowe returned to Ireland, but he wanted to return to the States, he said. In 2008, he returned to the U.S. and in 2019, he was granted full citizenship. Lowe came to Senoia because his wife’s family was from Macon and they were traveling back and forth from east coast to west coast to see them. When they were looking at places to move, Senoia checked all their boxes, Lowe said. By February 2020, Lowe and his family had fully moved to Senoia. Lowe said he’s created deep roots in Senoia and made amazing friends. So, when the council seat opened up, if any of his friends wanted to run for the council seat, he was more than willing to sit back and let them have it. When none stepped up, Lowe decided to announce his candidacy. His first priority is to protect the quaintness and historic charm of the downtown area, Lowe said. Lowe also believes in the importance of relationships and wants to get to know more of the people of Senoia. Lowe said he would like to see the city's relationship with the county be improved. Finally, he wants to see the communication between the council and its constituents be more transparent.

Andrew is currently a member of the Senoia City Council. He was elected in 2024 and is serving his first term.
