Marion D. Calhoun holds a degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida. She received a presidential service award and the national award from the National Battered Boys Association. 

Marion founded a non-profit organization, Community Alternative Treatment Services. She previously worked for the Florida Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole, where she was a Correctional Probation Officer.
