Before becoming mayor, Kim was acting CEO of Fayette College and Career Academy and vice president of institutional advancement at West Georgia Technical College. Prior to that she worked as a workforce training consultant for Georgia Quick Start.

Kim is currently the mayor of Peachtree City. She was elected in 2022 and is serving her first term. She previously served on the Peachtree City Council for eight years, from 2010 to 2017.
