Tonya D. Aaron holds a bachelor's degree in applied psychology and a master's degree in industrial organizational psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a doctorate degree in education from Grand Canyon University. She serves as vice chairperson of both the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Madison Heights Arts Board. She also serves as a member of the Madison Heights Library Advisory Board.

Tonya previously served as a Madison Heights Council member. She was appointed in 2022. She ran for a full term in 2023, but did not win.

Tonya works as a recipient rights and patient relations coordinator at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital. She previously worked at McLaren Health Care, where she was a volunteer services coordinator, patient & colleague engagement coordinator, and oncology care associate. She also worked as an organizational development associate at Magnet Consulting.
