Mark is from rural Southwest Michigan. He has two bachelors degree in organizational communication and international and comparative politics and a master's degree in international development administration from Western Michigan University. He lives with his wife and two children in Portage.

Mark worked at Stryker with master data and has experience working in the non-profit sector and held roles as a Youth Coordinator, Child Care Worker, and House Builder.
