Voters to determine candidates, school millage

Omar Odeh holds a bachelor's degree in economics from The American University in Cairo, a bachelor degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, a masters degree in business administration from the university of California at Irvine, and a master's degree in international transactions from George Mason University. 

Omar is a group marketing manager with the Ford Motor Company,. He also works at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he oversees executive communications. He previously served as associate vice president for strategic communications at Georgia College & State University, as vice president for communications & business development at Khalifa University, and as an assistant vice president of marketing and communications at American University of Beirut. 

Omar's campaign for Birmingham Library Board member is his first entry into politics.

Said, "If cuts to shared services among our partners occur, I will work with fellow board members and library director Craft to develop creative solutions that keep Baldwin patrons connected to these essential resources. At the same time, I will advocate strongly for continued investment in shared library systems that benefit all Michigan communities."

- Library board members, also referred to as trustees, set policies and control the budget for your local library. They are not responsible for day-to-day management decisions. Instead, they focus on "big picture" responsibilities.
- The board can appoint and remove librarians, purchase or sell property, renovate library buildings, and propose taxes to residents to fund library services. 
- This role is voluntary. Board members do not receive a salary, but may be compensated up to $30 for meeting attendance.
