T. Dianne Bellamy-Small is from Greensboro, North Carolina. She has a bachelor of arts in music and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also studied music at Brevard College and English language and literature at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. She holds post-graduate degrees from Duke University and the University of Maryland. She is the mother of three sons and the grandmother to 14.

Professional background

Dianne previously worked as a motivational speaker and singer. She also worked as a consultant and trainer for the Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center and as an assistant manager of juvenile detention centers with the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

Political background

Dianne is currently a member of the Guilford County Schools school board, representing District 1. She was first elected in 2016 and is currently serving her second term, which ends in 2028. She previously served on the Greensboro City Council from 2003 to 2013. Bellamy-Small ran for an at-large seat on the Greensboro City Council in 2017 but did not win.
