Gail Morfesis has a master's degree in performing arts from Johns Hopkins University Peabody Conservatory and a PhD from the University of Kentucky. She is married to her husband, Dr. F. Andrew Morfesis. Together, they have daughters and three granddaughters. Gail is a Christian.

Gail is a retired University of North Carolina professor. She is also a small business owner. 

Gail ran for Fayetteville City Council Member, District 2 in 2023 but did not win.
