Matthew Scully grew up in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree in voice performance from East Carolina University. He lives in Greenville with his wife, Erin, and their three daughters. 

Matthew owns and operates The Scullery. He is a former youth minister and professional singer. 

Matthew is currently a member of the Greenville City Council for District 4.
