Gordon Maybury lives in Woodfin, North Carolina. He holds a master's degree in business administration from Pepperdine University. He is married to his wife, Cathleen, with whom he has 2 children and a grandchild.

Gordon is retired. He previously worked at AWP, a national highway traffic safety company, where he served as director of sales as well as account manager and Western North Carolina manager. He also held senior management roles in retail and worked in manufacturing and service operations.

Gordon currently serves as a trustee for the Woodfin Sanitary Water and Sewer District, where he is also chair of the board of trustees. He was appointed in February 2023 and elected in November 2023.
