Chi grew up in Park Slope and Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He attended Friends Seminary in Manhattan on scholarship, and briefly attended Chapman College.

Chi has worked as a party promoter, occasional model, and songwriter. He entered politics as an organizer in the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and co-founded Warriors in the Garden, a protest collective focused on police brutality.

Chi Ossé currently serves as the council member for New York City’s 36th District. He was first elected in 2021 and is serving his first term.
