Mercedes previously worked as a registered nurse, established her own medical practice, and was a partner at a law firm focused on housing and community development. She also served as vice president of the West Bronx Developers’ Network and taught law, government, and public policy as an adjunct professor at New York University.

Political background

Mercedes Narcisse currently serves as the city council member for New York City District 46. She was first elected in 2021 and is serving her second term. She previously ran for city council in 2013 and for state senate in 2016 but did not win.
