Chris Obenshain was born in Virginia and lives in Blacksburg. Obenshain graduated from Cave Spring High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Bridgewater College and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Professional background

Chris previously served as a prosecutor in Radford and Montgomery County. He also worked as the assistant attorney general in the criminal appeals section for the state of Virginia. Before law school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and served as a Humvee mechanic with the 299th Engineering Company. After law school, he commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army JAG Corps.
