Amani is married to Rick Burris. They have two kids together. 

Amani works as an advising assistant to human rights advocate Dr. Opal Lee. She previously worked for State Senator Taylor, as a campaign aide to Mayor Paul Soglin, and as a journalist.

This is Amani Burris' first time running for public office.
