John Goci immigrated to the United States from Kosovo with his family when he was nine years old. He has been married for over 31 years and has four children. 

John is a business owner. He manages US 12 Bar and Grill in Wayne, Michigan, which his parents bought in 1996. He also runs a real estate office from the bar. Previously, he founded Digital Video Jukebox Network, Inc., later to become Barden Entertainment, and served as president until 2008. He also volunteered as a linguistic specialist for the U.S. Army during the Kosovo War.
