William currently serves as board chair of the Mid-Michigan Tenant Resource Center in Lansing, a nonprofit he co-founded. He also served as Coalition Coordinator for MI Rent Is Too Damn High, a statewide tenants' rights coalition. William previously hosted the Hegemonicon podcast for Convergence Magazine and co-founded the Sunrise Movement, where he directed its political program during the 2018 midterm elections and later served as director of strategic partnerships. He also co-founded and served as development director of the Fossil Fuel Divestment Student Network.
