Joey Cohen-Saban was born and raised in South Brooklyn — the son of immigrants and a proud first-generation American. He grew up in the tight-knit neighborhoods of Midwood and Gravesend, attended the Yeshivah of Flatbush, and went on to earn his degree from George Washington University.

After college, Joey came right back to Brooklyn. Today, he and his wife Florence are raising their son Hayim and daughter Violet on the very same block where Joey grew up. He serves as a Brooklyn Democratic Party district leader and as chief of staff to State Senator Sam Sutton, where he fights every day for the neighborhoods he calls home.
