Born and raised in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village — where he lives today — Keith has been serving the East Side of Manhattan since 2018.

He is a third-generation resident of Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town. Keith attended The CUNY Graduate Center and University of Dayton.

Keith Powers was born and raised in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. He attended the University of Dayton and the CUNY Graduate Center.

Former city council member Keith Powers scored a landslide win pulling in 82.1 percent of the vote in the special election Feb. 3 for the NYS Assembly 74th district. The Republican/Conservative challenger Joe Foley gnarred 16.1 percent of the votes, according to unofficial results from the board of elections.

Powers could soon find himself back in full campaign mode. Winning the special election means he will only finish serving the unexpired term of Epstein through the end of 2026. Several of the candidates who did not get the nod from the Democratic committee in the special election said they are planning a challenge in the primary that is set for June 23, ahead of the November 3 general election.

Keith won the February 3 special election for the New York State Assembly's 74th District with 82.1 percent of the vote and is serving the unexpired term through the end of 2026.

It’s great that NYC Schools and the MTA have expanded access to student OMNY cards, but there are still students who are excluded from the program, like those who live within one half mile of their school. Those students still need to get around after school. That’s why I’m calling on the MTA to give ALL students access to the student OMNY card program 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
