Greg West is a native of Cumberland County, North Carolina, and currently resides in Fayetteville with his wife, Kristie. He was born at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, attended Cumberland County Schools, and raised three children who also attended the local public schools. He earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design from North Carolina State University in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University in 2001. His family has a strong background in public service, with his father working as a civil servant and his mother and wife working as public school teachers.

Greg has a professional background in commercial construction, real estate, and corporate management. He is a licensed real estate broker, a licensed general contractor, and the founding co-owner of RAYWEST DESIGNBUILD, a commercial general contracting firm specializing in retail, restaurant, medical, and fitness construction. He previously served as the Owner and President of Westan Homes, the President of H&H Homes, and the General Manager of HPS Real Estate, Inc. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Executive for Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).

Greg previously served on the Cumberland County Board of Education for 24 years.
