Kimberly Herrick grew up in eastern Wake County. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a law degree from North Carolina Central University, and a master’s degree in taxation from Georgetown University.

Kimberly currently works as an attorney specializing in estate planning, guardianships, juvenile defense, and real estate matters. She is also a certified public accountant and previously worked as a high school teacher and financial planner. She served as chair of the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners.

I decided to run for District Court Judge after serving the legal profession as a member of the NC Board of Law Examiners from 2011-2022 and having the privilege of being Chair during the first two years of the pandemic. Most citizens are not in favor of judicial activism because it causes uncertainty in the outcomes tends not to benefit even those who it is purportedly meant to bring justice to. The courts should be efficient, and the judge should have control over her courtroom to allow matters to be heard in a timely manner. Judicial Administration

I believe judges should know the law and follow it. Most citizens are not in favor of judicial activism because it causes uncertainty in the outcomes tends not to benefit even those who it is purportedly meant to bring justice to. The courts should be efficient, and the judge should have control over her courtroom to allow matters to be heard in a timely manner.

A judge, especially a district court judge who conducts bench trials, is a finder of fact and needs to have life experience that enables her to listen to litigants with potentially very different stories and determine the relevant facts in a case. I have spent my entire career interacting with as many different individuals and encountering as many different situations as possible and I believe this will be a great advantage to me if I become a judge.

The court system's role in the lives of juveniles and others considered vulnerable within the community, such as the elderly and individuals with conditions that affect their ability to make decisions and resist exploitation. We have a duty to keep them safe.
