When my wife and I moved to Saluda in 1997, we were drawn to the mountains and the sense of community here. Over time, I saw how much local government influences daily life — sometimes in ways people don’t notice until something changes.

John Morgan moved to Saluda with his wife in 1997.

Before settling in Saluda, I spent 21 years in the United States Air Force, beginning during the Vietnam War.

After retiring from the Air Force, I continued flying with Atlas Air as a captain and flight instructor.

As I approached the end of my flying career, I found myself drawn toward serving my community more directly. My background as a trained accountant and my experience managing multimilliondollar military budgets gave me a practical way to contribute.

John worked as a captain and flight instructor with Atlas Air after retiring from the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 21 years beginning during the Vietnam War. He is a trained accountant.
